William Blake sought to explore the dialectical relationship between innocence and experience. Although the significance of innocence was among the poets' major concern in Romanticism, it needed confronting with, and then combining with the opposing element, say, experience to make a preogressive movement. The organized innocence was the ideal integration, in which the disadvantages of both innocence and experience were believed to be negleted. "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell" was in some way the reflection of such a combination. Blake used this poem to invoke the dialectic spirit.
