: Thank you. I made a mistake. How about your opinions of "Heart of Darkness"?
Joseph Conrad tries to lead the reader to re-examine the Colonialism by means of introducing the character of Kurtz. Kurtz is supposed to be in charge of the Congo region yet he betrays the British empire and runs to somewhere in the forest. Kurtz eventually bears the "civilizing mission"--a sort of colonizing strategy and the excuse of colonizing the African native. He takes advantages of the natives under the excuse of "civilizing the natives." Kurtz can't escape form the Congo region, the region of "Capitalism." The speech of "Horror! Horror!" reflects Kurtz's conscience, against the Capitalism and the Colonialism.
