RESEARCH METHODS

SYLLABUS

COURSE OBJECTIVES: This is a one-semester course designed to (1)guide the students to approach the various reference materials and facilities of a library, and (2) help the students familiarize themselves with techniques in doing research, particularly the process of preparing a research paper. The students, after working through this course, are expected to be able to do research independently and to produce academic papers acceptable in the field of Linguistics or Teaching English as a Second Language.

MAJOR TASKS TO BE COMPLETED:

  1. Topic or thesis statement for the term paper
  2. Working Bibliography
  3. Outline for the term paper
  4. Romanization Systems
  5. Word processing: Word for Windows
  6. BBS/Internet/World Widw Web
  7. Term paper

COURSE REQUIRMENTS: Regular assignment , quizzes , Winword 6.0 test, and term paper.
